Welcome to Sukarma Foundation

Sukarma Foundation is a volunteer-driven non-profit organization working on improving the lives of rural and tribal Indians. Key initiatives (or Karmas) by the foundation include educating women about the importance of female hygiene and sexual health, empowering them through employment opportunities via sustainable businesses, providing telemedicine facility to people in remote areas with a want of timely quality medical assistance, making basic education available to children and adults from impoverished sections of the Indian rural population and many more.

We started our work by raising menstrual hygiene awareness in tribal villages, towns, colleges and girls’ hostels. People have started talking about periods; at least, they are able to listen to conversations about menstrual hygiene and reproductive issues without any shame or shyness. During this “PADWOMAN awareness campaign” in 22 districts, we have reached out to approximately 20,000 girls and women from 1000 different villages. Villagers are welcoming us and embracing us with open hearts. This lead to a sanitary napkins manufacturing facility where we provide employment opportunities to women. Then we started a telemedicine primary health care clinic center in our home village Mehragaon that servers 8-10 nearby villages. Later we initiated two skills development center for women and children in Sainkheda town that teaches free sewing classes for women and free computer classes for children. We have also been working on addressing anemia in adolescent girls and women in 10 rural and tribal villages.  We have conducted several health camps and Covid relief efforts too. Our next goal is to build a government school building.

The Sukarma foundation is registered in California, USA, as a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization with tax ID 82-2520356, with members of the nonprofit spread through India, USA, Netherlands and several other countries. In Bharat(i.e. India) the  Sukarma Foundation is also a registered non-governmental organization (NGO) in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
