Mr Kirit Shah comes from a background in pharmaceutical companies. He acquired his Graduate degree in Science from Gujarat University, Ahmedabad in the early 60s and joined one of the most prestigious American Pharma giants – American Home Products in Ahmedabad – and was promoted as District Manager for Gujarat.
In 1978, he chose to immigrate to the USA for greener pastures and joined another Pharma conglomerate – Bristol Myers-Squibb. After working in several positions in Sales Management, he changed to Marketing Management with Sanofi – Pasteur and wore several hats during his tenure.
His journey to community work started in India as President of the Lions Club with several cataract camps on many weekends. In the San Francisco area, he worked as VP, Business Development of Indo American Chamber of Commerce and managed the first Charter Function as Steering Committee Chair. Another assignment he had was Co-Convenor of the Indo-American Trade Fair in SJ (San Jose) Convention Center.
After retirement, he got involved with the activities of the Health and Care Foundation (HCF). His involvement with HCF got him actively involved with the organization, Indians For Collective Actions – ICA. In 2018, he chaired the Golden Jubilee Project Committee of ICA to manage the large, day-long event that brought together activists, social entrepreneurs and nonprofit heads from India and the US who are working to change the lives of millions of disadvantaged Indians.
During one of the ICA Board meetings, he came across Maya. Maya’s unique work in Women’s Health, village life improvement including Education, etc. was an eye-opener for him. He learned a lot about villagers’ needs in India. Kirit Shah is confident that Maya’s dedication will surely take Sukarma to newer heights.
