Lakshmi Iyer

Lakshmi Iyer comes from the world of software engineering. After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electronics and Communications) from the University of Mumbai, India, she trained in software and worked in several companies in India and the US as an enterprise web developer, QA engineer and analyst.

She has lived in a few states on the East and West Coast of the United States. Her artistic bent of mind led her to venture into independent films after moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2012. She has worked as an assistant director, supporting actor and screenplay contributor.

A stint in volunteering for the FOG (Festival of Globe) Film Fest led to a freelance position as a Coordinator in the organization that hosts many cultural, charitable and wellness events. It was during the 2016 film festival that she crossed paths with Maya who had submitted her documentary, “Swaraj Mumkin Hai” to the festival.

Lakshmi was honored when Maya asked her to join the team of Sukarma Foundation. Occasionally, she contributes her skills in content writing and social media and email marketing to the cause.

Lakshmi is also a writer and regularly contributes reports and articles to the weekly publication, India Post, which is a sister organization of FOG.
